Depending on how bad a damp problem your property has, often it will mean that some internal plasterwork will be needed. After a procedure of damp treatment plaster needs to be renewed because of contamination with hygroscopic salts. When this is the case it is vital that a special salt retardant additive is used, this is used to hold back any residual salts while still allowing walls to breath.
Standard plasters should not he used as they cannot prevent the migration of hygroscopic salts, failure to replanted using a salt retardant after treatment is the most common cause of continuing internal damp problems.

It is also important to allow a period of 14 days after damp proofing before new plaster is applied, however this period can increase 8f the damp problems we’re particularly bad. The surface should he checked with a damp meter to discover if moisture is still present.
You want the wall to be completely free of moisture before you add a new coat of plaster, if the wall is not dry this could lead to future problems.
